HEBERGER Student Residence
Questions on Housing and Applications
What are my chances of being allocated a place in the student residence?
The chances of obtaining a place in the student residence vary. Since new requests come in every day and rooms also become available on an ongoing basis, the overall prospects are solid. Whether your situation can be given priority depends on social factors listed in the allocation guidelines, such as family responsibilities, disability, long travel distances or studying abroad. Your application is non‑binding and free of charge – however, we cannot provide any guarantee.
I have been offered a shared flat (WG) room but would prefer a single accommodation. Is it possible to switch?
We cannot always accommodate such requests. However, you may contact us by email so that we can check whether a rebooking is possible. Please note that we cannot guarantee a positive outcome.
I have received an offer – what happens next?
Please inform us as soon as possible whether you accept or decline the offer. If you accept, you will receive your rental agreement by email, which may take some time. Please read the accompanying letter carefully and return the contract in two signed copies together with the required documents. In addition, we need the confirmation of residence (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung) and proof of payment of the security deposit. You do not need to return the general rental terms and conditions.
Can I still register after the deadline has passed?
Yes, a late application is still possible. However, all applications submitted on time will be considered first. If rooms remain available afterwards, we may also be able to make you an offer.
I applied without having my university admission yet. Do I need to submit it later?
As long as you have not yet received a room offer, there is no need to submit anything. If you are allocated a place, we will automatically request your admission letter. At the latest upon moving in, you must provide your certificate of enrolment.
What furnishings are typically included in the room?
Most accommodations are furnished. This typically includes a bed with a mattress, a wardrobe, a desk, a chair and a small kitchen. Depending on the building, additional wall shelves or a standing shelf may be provided. You can find detailed information on the respective residence page.
By when will I know for sure that I will not be offered a place?
Rejections are sent out around three to four weeks after the allocation period begins. As this can be a short timeframe, we recommend checking private housing options in parallel.
Can I view the rooms before applying?
We do not offer official viewings, as all rooms are continuously occupied. However, you may visit the buildings on your own to get an impression, if possible. Photos and floor plans are available online.
I do not yet know whether I will receive BAföG. What should I enter?
Providing BAföG information is optional. If you are confident that you will receive funding, you may upload a calculated result from the BAföG calculator (www.bafoeg-rechner.de) and submit the official notice later.
May I register multiple times within the same semester?
No, each person may only submit one application per semester. Multiple entries do not provide any advantage and may even lead to exclusion.
When does the application deadline end?
The deadline is 1 March and 1 September respectively.
How will I find out whether I have been allocated a room?
If your application is successful, we will send you an email with all necessary information about the specific room. Please also check your spam folder regularly.
How can I delete my application?
A short email is sufficient. Please inform us as early as possible so the place can be offered to someone else.
Can I apply without providing proof of enrolment?
Yes, the application is non‑binding and does not require prior admission. If your place of study changes, no costs will arise for you.
On what basis is it decided who receives a room?
Our allocation process is based on social criteria defined in established allocation guidelines. These guidelines specify which life circumstances are taken into account during the selection process.
How long do I have to stay in the residence at minimum?
The minimum rental period is half a year or one semester.
What notice period applies?
The notice period is three months to the end of the semester.
Can I terminate my contract before the end of the semester?
Early termination is only possible in the case of de‑registration, provided that a successor is available. Otherwise, the regular notice periods apply.
Can I live at a different location than where I study?
This is not possible. Applications are only permitted at your own place of study.
Are the residence halls also open to students from other universities?
The accommodations are exclusively available to students of the respective university in Landau.
How can I correct incorrect information in my application?
Please inform us by email which details are incorrect. Make sure to include your full name. A new application is not required.
How does the application process for a housing place work?
Registration is only possible via our website.
What fees or costs apply?
The application is free of charge, as is withdrawing it. Costs only arise once you sign a tenancy agreement.
